2024 Ochtota Barrels, 'Fugazi' Grenache
The Fugazi Grenache, named after the punk band, pioneered a more elegant, medium-bodied style of McLaren Vale Grenache. Planted in 1947, the organically farmed bushvines thrive on rocky, ironstone soil. In 2024, after missing a vintage due to hail, the wine was handpicked, underwent spontaneous fermentation, and aged in neutral French barrels with occasional batonnage. After about five months, it was racked and bottled unfined, unfiltered, with minimal SO2, highlighting the purity of fruit and nuanced complexity.
