Domaine Clusel Roch
The hills of Côte Rôtie are stunning, with their dramatic granite slopes seeming to rise from the Earth in a burst of energy. Only the most dedicated would cultivate these vineyards, as they must be tended by hand, with no tractor able to navigate the terrain. Domaine Clusel-Roch, based in Verenay, the northernmost Côte Rôtie village, is a small 3.5-hectare estate managed by Gilbert Clusel, his wife Brigit, and their son Guillaume. Established in 1935 with a unique Syrah clone, the estate has embraced organic farming since 1990, becoming regional pioneers in the movement.
