2023 Brash Higgins, 'NDV' Nero d'Avola
In 2009, Brash Higgis were the first to graft Nero d’Avola at their organic Omensetter Vineyard in McLaren Vale. This twelfth vintage, picked in early March after a cool February, showcases low yields and excellent acidity. Their “NDV” maintains the grape's transparency through traditional methods and wild yeast fermentation, aged in beeswax-lined clay amphoras. This wine is a deep crimson with notes of mezcal, black cherry, and spices, featuring a refreshing acidity and fine tannins.

Brash Higgins
In 2007, Brad Hickey met Nicole Thorpe in McLaren Vale, where her family had deep roots in local viticulture. Brad, a seasoned sommelier from Chicago, was drawn to the region during a drought.Together, they explored resilient grapes, leading them to Sicily, where they discovered Nero d’Avola. They grafted it onto their vines and commissioned local potter John Bennett to create amphoras, launching "Brash Higgins." Their commitment to innovation and organic farming continues to shape their winery's success.
