2022 Slow Lane, 'The Big Smoke' Cabernet Franc
Cabernet Franc from the sustainably farmed Slate Creek vineyard, nestled between Sellicks Beach and McLaren Vale, delivers both vibrant intensity and leafy freshness. Destemmed fruit fermented in open vats with early plunging and later pump-overs. One parcel aged in a third-fill 600L Demi Muid; the other remained on skins for three months before pressing to seasoned French oak. Aged on fine lees until July 2023, the wine was then blended and bottled.

Slow Lane
Slow Lane is a small winery run by Federica Marzetti and Dom Smith, located just 15 minutes south of Mount Gambier, South Australia, Dom’s hometown. The winery spent six years in McLaren Vale, where both made wine and worked in various vineyards. However, they felt a strong pull to the Mount Gambier area, drawn by the region's two young volcanoes, limestone influence, healthy rainfall, cool climate, and significant diurnal range. Eventually, they made the move. Federica, who had been living in Australia since 2020 after leaving Italy, was convinced to shift her life to Mount Gambier to explore its winemaking potential.
